Alisa and I wake up about 5 and drive off. We wonder how far we can make it before the kids wake up and want breakfast. As it turns out 2 1/2 hours.
We stop at Waffle House. If I can't have waffles for fathers day why not the day after.
So we head towards Denver. Still have no idea where we will stay. So Alisa starts calling, we find place that sounds nice but they only have 4 spots left and don't take reservations. We will try later when we get closer to see if they have any spots left.
She calls a few more. One is on the other side of Denver than my Aunt's house has lots of spaces open but, no trees.
She spots one Barr Lake RV Park. 103 spots on 10 acres. Playground groceries, coin laundry, small heated pool. AAA gives them 1 red diamond. They have a spot and will take a reversation.
I pull off to try to see the worlds biggest prarie dog. The bulding looks closed and there is a for sale sign on it. Congress must act now on these high gas prices. The tourst trap industry depends on it.
We get there at 12:30 at night to find a gravel parking lot with bright lights at each site nestled between a highway and active train tracks. 37 plus more for the kids and even moccccccre for the dog. Ok we are here and we are tired. Against our better judgment we decide to stay.
Once we deposited our money in the night slot and got setup we found the best part. They were shutting off the water the next morning. Once we get the kids in bed Alisa and I take showers while we still can
In spite of the noise and light I still fall asleep.
Tomorrow: Mile high adventure.
